MUSÉE DE LA BATELLERIE D'ALLIER PIERRE-MONDANEL (MUSEUM OF INLAND WATERWAY TRANSPORT)
Museum retracing the history of river navigation in the Pont-du-Château region and evoking the history and uses of the river.
This museum takes place in the kitchens of the castle. It pays homage to Pierre Mondanel, a local historian, who traced the river navigation of the region. It reminds us that Pont-du-Château was one of the largest ports in Auvergne, having for a long time had the only bridge over the Allier, between the Haute-Loire and the Allier department. In the museum, the history and uses of the river are evoked. A space is also dedicated to the exploitation of bitumen in the commune. The terrace offers a beautiful view.
