Continuing beyond the historical village of Marathokampos, installed on the heights, the road descends towards the south coast and gives access to a small port and a seaside resort. Thus, on the sea side, two sets are distinguished:
To the east, Ormos Marathokampou is the small fishing port where a few taverns offer fresh fish in front of swaying caiques. The town is historically known for its traditional craftsmen and famous shipyards and today houses part of the Greek fleet. The road continues eastward along a coastline dotted with quiet beaches including Velanida and Balos. The pretty village of Koumeika, set back from the sea, is also worth a visit. The celebrations that take place on August 6 in the beautiful central square are famous throughout the island.
To the west, Kampos Marathokampou is a small tourist resort which gives access to the beach of Votsakalia. It is very extensive and has both developed and quiet areas. Beyond, the coastal road continues towards the west (also possible fork towards the Pythagoras cave). The landscape is more arid, and the beaches of Psili Ammos and Limionas are relatively uncrowded. The road bypasses Mount Kerkis by going up towards the north and the vegetation becomes denser until the villages of Kallithea and Drakei, at the end of the road. This village at the end of the world was famous for the construction of traditional caiques: today, it is good to take a quiet break before turning back.
