Lake lit by sun rays offering a quite phantasmagorical spectacle to Sami.
In Mycenaean times, it was a sanctuary dedicated to Pan. Part of the limestone ceiling has collapsed, letting the light through. The lake, illuminated by the few rays of sunlight that rush through the opening, depending on the time of day, offers a quite fantastic spectacle. The water is of an absolutely magnificent blue. A canal leads to the open part, where, according to legend, the nymph Melissani, spurned by Pan, drowned.

The ticket of 7 euro seems a bit too much for half an hour boat tour. The guide and pilot was very knowledgdeable and The cave seems a South american cenote.
