CHORA KASTRO
The Kastro is a fortress that allows you to observe the Aegean Sea and the Cretan Sea at the same time.
The Kastro was built by the Venetians between the 12th and 13th centuries. The fortress is nicknamed "the Cretan eye" because it allowed to observe the Aegean and the sea of Crete at the same time.
Entering on the left, you can see the old prisons, if you turn right when entering you can see a cistern. There are four churches in the castle. The oldest is the Pantokrator church, built in 1545 and which has well preserved frescoes. The largest church is Panagia Myrtidiotissa, built in 1580.
