SAINT THEODORE'S MONASTERY
Visit the monastery dedicated to St. Theodore which dates mainly from the seventeenth century
The monastery dates mainly from the 17th century and is dedicated to St Theodore, the patron saint of the island who lived there in the 9th century. A feast day is dedicated to him on 12 May. Attached to the church, the monks' cells are in reddish buildings and there is also an old school dating from the English protectorate period. If you are in the area in May, it is a local festival that attracts many visitors to the small monastery south of Potamos.
