KOIMISEOS THEOTOKOU CHURCH
Church with a frescoed interior from the Byzantine period in Anoghi.
The church built 500 m high is one of the oldest churches in the Balkans, probably from the 12th century. The interior of the church is impressive because it is covered with frescoes from the Byzantine period. According to an inscription on the wall we can see that the painter is Antonios Ex Agrafon. He would have realized the frescoes in 1680. At that time, the church was the metropolis of the island and Anogi the capital of Ithaca. The Venetian campanile also deserves your attention.
