The monastery was probably built on an ancient sanctuary dedicated to Artemis or Hera. 3. Agia Mavra Castle
Agiá Mavra Castle, also known as Santa Maura, is the most important historical site on Lefkada, one of the most beautiful Greek islands to discover. Originally built in 1300 by a French sovereign, the castle was rebuilt in the 16th century by the Venetians.
