VENETIAN OLIVE GROVE
Field of olive trees in Lefkada with a green nature suitable for a walk.
The poet of Lefkada, Sikelianos, often spoke of the "divine field of olive trees". These olive trees were planted in 1684 by order of the Venetians. When they conquered the island, they forced the inhabitants to intensify the cultivation of olive trees and those who did not plant them were punished with a fine... In 1770, a census showed that 44,169 olive trees were planted in 86 years on the island of Lefkada. You can go for a walk in this olive field and its surroundings where nature is green.
