Monastery destroyed by earthquakes and rebuilt in 1638 in Argassi.
You can get to the monastery easily if you have a 4x4, but otherwise you have to leave your car and take a dirt road from Argassi that leads you to the monastery on Mount Skopos. Built in 1446 on the ruins of a temple dedicated to Apollo and Artemis, it was destroyed by earthquakes and rebuilt in 1638. The view from the monastery is incredible, you dominate the whole island and you can see the island of Kefalonia in the distance.
