THE SARAKINA HOUSE
Vacation home considered a masterpiece of Italian architecture in Laganas.
It's not known exactly when it was built (probably around the turn of the 19th century), but miraculously it's still standing. Considered a masterpiece of Italian architecture, the Sarakina house is an example of the neoclassical dwelling the island was filled with before the terrible earthquake of 1953. The house was built on land belonging to the Lountzi family. In 2012, Kristy Lountzi decided to reinvest the family's olive groves and produce her own oil. You can sometimes buy products here too...
