Declared of international tourist interest, it is the second most important in the world, after Rio, renowned for its corso.
This is an appointment that should not be missed. By far the most important of Tenerife, it was declared of interest tourist and is considered by some as the second carnival in the world, after Rio! Result: an uninterrupted feast for 24 hours that the Tinerfeños (inhabitants of Tenerife) wait every year impatiently, just like the tourists who came to participate in this festival. So don't forget to get there in advance to find accommodation.
Every year in February, the streets are decorated and thousands of people who are buried are investing the places. Parades and costume contests of all kinds, super heroes to pirates, hats, wigs, strass, makeup, colorful costumes and feathers are invading the streets. More than 100 000 people gather in the city centre for the occasion. The week is marked by different events: the gala of the election of the carnival queen, the great coso parade, the burial of sardines, the murgas, the comparsas and the concerts followed. Noria's street in the pedestrian centre is the nerve centre of this great colourful party. Everything happens at night, but for several years we also celebrate carnival the day. On Saturday of Pinata, thousands of people dance on the street with family. The city is flooded with comparsas and their batucadas that play everywhere.
