NAVA PALACE
Building in San Cristóbal de la Laguna with a façade that combines Mannerism, Baroque and Neoclassicism
Built in 1585, it is for many an unusual example of Canarian architecture because its façade mixes Mannerism, Baroque and Neoclassicism. The central main building, similar to that of the Salazar Palace (now the Episcopal Palace), was built in 1681 by the same stonemasons. In the centre of the frontispiece is the stone coat of arms of the Marquises of Villanueva del Prado. It was in this building that the famous Tertulia de Nava, a group of intellectuals who had a great influence in the time of the Illustration, gathered.
