If you can, we recommend renting a car to get around Tenerife. You can easily take the ferry with it for a more complete tour outside of Santa Cruz. This agency has different types of well-maintained cars with service at the airport. Most of the reservations offer an all-inclusive service with unlimited mileage, additional driver, free cancellation... (Minimum age for rental: 23 years old.) Another important point is that all reservations must be made through the website.

Nie wieder Voltencar
Wir hatten vom Hotel aus für 2 Tage ein chinesisches Fahrzeug mit Automatikgetriebe (Fengon 500) gemietet. Bitte unbedingt Abstand nehmen von diesem Verleiher: wir sind im Gebirge in eine lebensbedrohliche Situation geraten, weil die Bremsen trotz moderatem Intervallbremsen bei Bergabfahren kurzzeitig versagten. Später teilte man uns im Hotel mit, dass das Problem bekannt sei und selbst bei Voltencar im Büro war man nicht bereit, uns einen Betrag zu erstatten, obwohl wir das Auto nicht mehr vollumfänglich nutzen wollten. Es kam auch zu keinerlei Entschuldigungen, weil man uns offensichtlich nicht glaubte und die Sicherheit des Autos nicht in Frage stellen wollte. Unserer Meinung nach ist der Fengon 500 für Gebirgsfahrten nicht geeignet und dürfte - gerade auf dem gebirgigen Teneriffa - gar nicht erst angeboten werden. Voltencar sollte mehr Verantwortungsgefühl zeigen.
