Riom's Sainte-Chapelle, built between 1395 and 1403, is the last vestige of the palace of Duke Jean de Berry
Built of Volvic stone between 1395 and 1403, it is the last vestige of the palace of Duke Jean de Berry. It is one of seven holy chapels still standing in France, alongside the royal Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, whose plan it follows, with the addition of two side oratories. Built in the flamboyant Gothic style, the chapel's choir features admirable stained-glass windows, recently restored. The chapel is part of the Court of Appeal and is under the authority of the Ministry of Justice. A scale model shows how the two buildings are linked today.
