CLOCK TOWER
An octagonal tower in Riom bearing the clock and salamander, with a superb panoramic view of the town and surrounding area.
A former belfry and symbol of communal freedoms, the tower was built in the late 14th century. The medieval part serves as a base for the octagonal tower built during the Renaissance, which bears the clock and the salamander, emblem of King François I. Home to Riom's Pays d'art et d'histoire, it has recently been restored. New exhibits on Riom and the surrounding area have been added, including models and a relief map of the old town. After climbing 128 steps, enjoy a breathtaking view of the city and its surroundings.
