Small church that houses the patron saint of the island, the starting point for the most important festival of the island, the Bajada
On the shady village square, this small16th-century church houses the island's patron saint. The small building features white walls and a black Renaissance-style facade, complete with carved balcony and handsome wooden portal. Inside is a14th-century terracotta statue of the Virgin of the Snows (the island's patron saint). This is the starting point for the island's most important festival: the Bajada de la Virgen de las Nieves. A romería takes place every year (August 5), but the island's main festival is held every five years, in the last week of June.
