PICO DEL POZO DE LAS NIEVES
Peak at 1,949 m above Tejeda offering an exceptional landscape from the viewpoint
At 1,949 m, it is the island's highest peak. The view from the mirador is exceptional on a clear day. The view extends to the other side, the north-west of the island, dominated by the Roque Nublo peak, above the Presa de los Hornos reservoir. And the Canarian saying goes that "if you can see Fuerteventura, it's raining". This peak owes its name to the natural excavations of volcanic origin in which the monks kept snow in reserve, sometimes until summer in the 17th century, for domestic purposes: freezing, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties for administering treatments.
