In the aforementioned capital, one visit in particular stands out: the Casa de Colón, which was once Christopher Columbus's preferred stopover. 6. Caldera de Bandama, hiking in the heart of a volcano

In the northeast of Gran Canaria nestles a Nature Reserve. The Caldera de Bandama trail crosses the las Goteras and Guiniguada ravines. Formed five thousand years ago with the volcano Pico de Bandama, the caldera invites you to descend to a depth of 216 metres. Your visit is also an opportunity to discover the Cueva de los Canarios archaeological site, an ancient food silo.

A radical change of scenery at Roque Nublo, located in Tejeda. Roque Nublo is one of the largest natural rocks in the world, reaching 80 meters in height. A former place of worship for aborigines, it is now a protected natural area. The 5-kilometre trekking route starts on the general road and leads to the Nublo and La Rana rocks, via the El Fraile rock. Your short hike gives you the chance to admire the Las Niñas, Chira and Soria dams, as well as the towns of Artenara and Acusa.

Head for the south-west of Gran Canaria to find a quiet, idyllic beach: Playa de Amadores. Protected by two dykes, it is safe from sudden rises in sea level. The beach is quieter than at Lomo Quibre, for those who like to bask in the sun without the crowds, especially in summer. We've already mentioned it for its proximity to Maspalomas: Playa del Inglès is one of Gran Canaria's best-known beaches. With its 3 kilometers of fine sand bordered by crystal-clear water, it promises to be a beautiful place to be! Although crowded in summer, it's still an absolutely magnificent place to be. Sports facilities offer a wide range of activities for locals and visitors alike. The beach is also popular with families, who find many amenities here.

For the record : there are naturist beaches on Gran Canaria, including a section at the end of Plage de l'Anglais.

Day 1: Las palmas de Gran Canaria, Vegueta

Gran Canaria is the ideal place to travel with children. Head for Aqualand Maspalomas, the best water park on the island, where the whole family can enjoy the slides and soft runs. Holiday World Maspalomas, meanwhile, offers rides like the Ferris wheel and roller coaster, as well as bumper cars and a pirate ship. Do you really want to put stars in your children's eyes?
