OPME CASTLE
The castle was built in the 11th century and the French gardens date from 1613. There is a museum dedicated to Marshal de Lattre de Tassigny.
This fortress commanded the pass where the Roman road from Clermont to Puy-en-Velay passed. The castle built at the end of the 11th century belonged to the counts and then to the dolphins of Auvergne. It was redesigned in the 17th century by Antoine de Ribeyre, who created the French gardens in 1613. Labeled as remarkable gardens, they are home to century-old lime trees and a Renaissance fountain attributed to Androuet du Cerceau. Only a few rooms of the building are accessible, as well as the gardens. A museum dedicated to Marshal de Lattre de Tassigny is housed there.

Nous avons été accueilli par un charmant Monsieur et sa maman qui nous ont expliqué toute son histoire. Nous avons ensuite pu profiter de la visite et elle en vaut le détour.
