House-museum preserving photos of people in the writer's entourage as well as period furniture
This 1924 th century house is the former Hotel Fuerteventura where the philosopher Unamuno lived during his exile on the island from March to July. Always curious and in eternal search for knowledge, he has not lost his time on the island. Thus in the house are exposed its work on the oral tradition of the island, the fauna, flora and above all the sea, which will be omnipresent in its aesthetic and metaphysical descriptions. The walls are covered with phrases written by the philosopher. In the house, the atmosphere of the 1920 s was rediscovered, with some reproductions of photos of people who were part of the author's entourage. During these few months, he tissera a network of friends of the island and mainland Spain, including Ramón Castañeyra, a local intellectual who paid his library during his exile, but also the republican journalist Rodrigo Soriano, who was also banned by the dictator. Time furniture has been preserved. From his passage here, he will write a collection of poems From Fuerteventura to Paris and characterize the island as "oasis in the desert of civilization".
