Lighthouse in operation after 6 years of work hosting the museum of traditional fishing majorera

Following the road that goes north, after a succession of small coves with clear water, you arrive at Punta Ballena, 5 km from El Cotillo. This is where the El Cotillo lighthouse is located, which was put into operation in 1897 after six years of work. Together with the lighthouses of Martiño on the island of Lobos and Pechiguera in Lanzarote, it formed a triangle of beacons for ships sailing through the Strait of Bocaina, between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. It now houses the museum of traditional fishing majorera.
