CASA CILLA
Attic of the Canaries with explanatory panels with photos, domestic objects and tools of the time
The history of the traditional agricultural cycle of harvests and the manufacture of flour in mills from different types of grain is explained in this th century house, which was once a grain barn held by the church. The economy and the social and cultural life of the island were historically based on cereal cultivation. Fuerteventura was then considered the "attic" of the Canary islands. Proof of the multitude of small stone mills you will find everywhere on the island and which are characteristic of the arid landscapes it offers. The exhibition recounts the time of the agricultural harvest calendar through explanatory panels, photos, household objects and tools of the time. Here you can learn some traditions of local folklore, such as the popular jeu game that consisted of making weather forecasts.
