Created in 1992 by a Danish sportsman, this triathlon event has the reputation of being one of the most difficult in the world in this field. It involves men and women competing in different teams and includes 3.8 kilometres of swimming, 180 kilometres of cycling and a 42-kilometre marathon. Based on the required selection, the top sixty are automatically qualified for the World Championship of this discipline held in Kona, Hawaii. To date, it has been won once by a Frenchman, Romain Guillaume, in 2014.
