MONTPELOUX VOLCANO
A volcano with mineral cliffs measuring nearly 70 meters high and overlooking a lake located in the heart of the crater.
For many years, this volcano served as a promontory for a fortified castle, before being partly shaped by the exploitation of a basalt quarry, allowing us today to enter its crater, formed 18 million years ago. The surrounding mineral cliffs are almost 70 metres high, overlooking a lake at the heart of the crater. This spectacular site now hosts a discovery trail, guided tours and a summer cultural program in a veritable open-air theater, attracting large numbers of visitors every year.
