PALACIO DEL MARQUES
Huge family property divided into several houses with a restaurant and patio
Built in 1455, the Palacio del Marques belonged to the great Herrera y Rojas family. The Marquis of Lanzarote decided to have this huge property built, which is the oldest work on the island. It was the seat of the island's government and an observation post to watch over the invader... Its construction has given the town a presence and an aura tenfold. Alas this one by lack of maintenance ends up withering away. The original palace has been divided into several dwellings nowadays. Part of it is a restaurant where you can admire the patio.
