It is not just an opera room. Sydney Opera House has a special status and is administered by the Sydney Opera House Trust (the New South Wales Ministry of Culture). Within this arts center, several concert halls can host dance performances, singing, theater, lectures, films, totaling more than 1,500 performances per year welcoming more than 1.2 million people. Eight organizations are permanently resident: Opera Australia, Australian Ballet, Bangarra Dance Theater, Sydney Theater Company, Bell Shakespeare, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Australia Chamber Orchestra. Each offers a wide range of productions.
