SYDNEY TOWN HALL
Sydney Town Hall is a superb building housing the Town Hall built in the 1880s and Centennial Hall.
This superb building houses, among other things, Sydney Town Hall. Built in the 1880s, it was also Sydney's concert hall until 1973. Its architecture is inspired by the Hôtel de Ville in Paris, making similar use of its mansard roofs and Second Empire Victorian details. The Centennial Hall is home to the Sydney Town Hall Grand Organ, the world's largest organ in 1890. According to recent excavations, the building was constructed on the site of the old Sydney cemetery, closed in 1820.
