OBSERVATORY HILL PARK
A small hill converted into an observation park offering spectacular views of West Harbour and Sydney Bridge.
It was from this small hill, now Sydney Observatory Park, that the Aborigines surveyed the southern sky, seeking to identify the celestial features of their Dreamtime. From the rotunda, there is a beautiful walk along the lawns of Observatory Hill, with its admirable view of the western harbor and the Sydney Bridge. The staircase east of Upper Fort Street leads to The Rocks and the Harbour Bridge crosswalk. The walk is particularly pleasant in the early morning or at sunset.
