BARANGAROO RESERVE
Reserve containing the remains of a shipyard located on the former industrial site of the port west of Harbour Bridge.
Built on the former industrial port site west of Harbour Bridge, Barangaroo Reserve is a reminder of the city's origins and Aboriginal culture. The reserve takes its name from Bennelong's second wife. Bennelong was the first Aboriginal (captured in 1789 by Governor Phillip) to adopt European customs, and is now a Sydney legend. During construction, which lasted 36 months, remains of the 1820s shipyard were discovered and relocated to the park.
