Mosman is a pleasant, upscale neighborhood located 8 kilometers northeast of Sydney's central business district.

Mosman is located 8 kilometers northeast of Sydney's central business district. This upscale and livable neighborhood owes its name to Archibald Mosman (1799-1863) and his twin brother George, who moved to a 16,000 square meter land grant in the area in 1831. They were involved in shipping and founded a whaling station on a bay in the harbor, later known as Mosman Bay.

Prior to the arrival of settlers, Mosman was inhabited for thousands of years by the Borogegal tribe.
