CADMAN'S COTTAGE
This listed building, located opposite the Overseas Passenger Terminal, was home to several sailors.
Cadman's Cottage, built in 1816 as part of the shipyard, is located across from the Overseas Passenger Terminal. It is the third oldest building in Sydney. After having been in turn the home of several sailors (1816-1827), that of John Cadman, the headquarters of the water police - and prison (1845-1864), a guest house for visiting captains of merchant ships (1926-1960), it was left abandoned for a long time before being classified as a historic monument in 1972. Renovated in 1996 and occupied until 2013, it is now unoccupied.
