KOALA HOSPITAL
Hospital caring for koalas injured in road accidents, dog attacks, diseases or forest fires
The hospital was opened in 1973 by local residents Jean and Max Starr. Years later, after relocation and expansion, the hospital is now home to many koalas. The hospital takes in and cares for koalas for a variety of reasons: road accidents, dog attacks, disease or forest fires. A sign at the entrance lists all the injured and the reason for their hospitalization. The hospital is the permanent home of koalas unable to be returned to their natural habitat, particularly those born in hospital.
