A mural-like memorial in Brisbane to the Australian women who died in the First World War.
This memorial pays tribute to the Australian women who enlisted and died in the First World War. In the form of a fresco, it depicts an infantry battalion ready for attack. It was commissioned by the Brisbane Women's Club, sculpted by a woman, Daphne Mayo, and unveiled by Lady Goodwin, the Governor's wife, in 1932. Part of the funding came from Queensland women, who were encouraged to pay a symbolic shilling.
