Most of the campsites on Fraser Island are run by the National Parks & Wildlife Camping Services. Visitors have a choice between landscaped grounds with running water, toilets and BBQ (only Dundubara and Waddy Point - top and beachfront - are equipped for campfires) and wilderness camping behind the dunes on the beach. In both cases, the camping permit is mandatory, to be requested before leaving for the island. There are also two private campsites.
