WANGI FALLS
A superb handicap-accessible site in Litchfield National Park, distinguished by its famous waterfall.
The best-known waterfall because of the publicity it receives from the many tour operators and its ease of access. The superb site is very (perhaps too) well developed. And well laid-out means crowded! If you can, come as early as possible to avoid the crowds. The site is also accessible to people with reduced mobility or in wheelchairs. The water here is cool and clear. There's a sandbank in the middle where you can relax in the sun. Swimming is prohibited during the rainy season, however, as crocodiles may be present. Incredibly, a crocodile bit a tourist during the 2023 dry season, causing a media and political uproar. This encourages caution.
A pleasant walk, lasting around 1h30, takes you up to the waterfalls, over them and back down the other side. Remember to take water with you. Here, you're in the middle of the rainforest, with butterflies, birds and even bats above you. In front of you, there may be big spiders, like the golden orb, but also rare animals like bandicoots or marsupial mice. The magnificent 8-metre waterfall is very refreshing. Nearby, there's a cafeteria offering simple dishes and drinks to eat in or take away, as well as picnic areas. The inevitable public barbecue is also available. Camping is available, but must be booked well in advance.

Jolie balade au dessus de la cascade beaucoup moins fréquentée que la zone réservée a la baignade.
De nombreuses chauves souris et oiseaux à observer.
