Telegraph station 4 kilometers from the city center, playing a central role in Australia's history.

Located 4 km from the city center, this telegraph station was the first building constructed in Alice Springs. Its telegraph line played a central role in Australia's history as it was established in 1871 to ensure the sending of messages between Darwin and Adelaide. The line was also connected to London by an underwater cable, which allowed the first communications with the United Kingdom. Very beautiful surroundings around the complex, very popular with the locals for a picnic, a walk or a mountain bike ride. Kangaroos everywhere at the end of the day!

Opening time and information on THE TELEGRAPH STATION

Open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm, weekends from 8 am. Admission: adult AU$15, child under 16 years old AU$9.30, child under 12 years old AU$5.50, family AU$35. Guided tour from March to November at 9:30, 11:30, 13:30 and 15:30.

Musée en pleine air très intéressant qui nous explique la vie et les moyens de communication des premiers colons européens. On vous explique également comment sont arrivés les chameaux en Australie.

Voyage dans le temps

Visite intéressante qui nous fait remonter le temps. On comprend que le télégraphe a vraiment changé la vie de personnes excentrées, et on peut se rendre compte de l’évolution technologique.
