The Ballarat Museum of Fine Art has the reputation of being one of the finest and most prestigious in Australia outside the major capital cities (Canberra, Melbourne & Sydney). The museum was founded in 1884, and James Oddie, one of the first gold diggers to arrive in Ballarat, contributed greatly to the museum's success by donating numerous works of art. The museum also showcases traditional and recent Aboriginal art. In conclusion, a visit to this museum is a must! Guided tours are organized on a regular basis. Store and café on site.
