CAPE BORDA LIGHTSTATION
A listed lighthouse on Kangaroo Island, named after navigator and scientist Jean-Charles de Borda.
The only square lighthouse in South Australia and classified as a historical monument (as well as the keepers' cottage), it was built in 1858 and automated in 1989. The cape is named after the navigator and scientist Jean-Charles de Borda, who was admired by the English, who decided to honor him. After seeing the lighthouse and its museum, explore the old landing site for supplies in the warehouses at Harvey's Return (don't miss the cannon signal fired daily at 12:30 p.m. in commemoration) and the watchmen's cemetery.
