FLINDERS CHASE NATIONAL PARK
Kangaroo Island Park, home to natural sites and numerous historical monuments such as the Caps Borda and Couedic lighthouses
The park has a number of historical monuments, such as the lighthouses at Cape Borda (for a fee) and Couedic, as well as two major natural sites: Admirals Arch (where you can see sea lions) and Ramarkables Rocks with its eroded granite rocks. The Flinders Chase Visitor Centre is located at Rocky River from where you can start many short hikes. Don't miss the signs at the Black Swamp Lodge that will allow you to become expert wildlife observers. A one-kilometer loop allows you to get drunk on the acacia forests, another one and a half kilometers offers the history of the park and its first arrivals. Finally, if you feel like it, put on your shoes for a 4.5 kilometer walk leading to waterholes where the luckiest of you will see Platypus (platypus in English). Indeed, the park is home to many endangered species, some of which were imported here in the early 20th century, such as the koala and the platypus. Information, coffee, but also tolls for the entrance of the park and campsites, reservation of accommodation. Four campsites are located at Harveys Return, Snake Lagoon, Rocky River and West Bay. You can also stay overnight in the lighthouse keeper's cottage at Cape du Couedic or Cape Borda. Other accommodations are available at Mays Homestead and Postmans Cottage, near the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre.
