MARITIME MUSEUM OF TASMANIA
A large museum featuring an important collection of photos and paintings retracing Hobart's maritime history.
This is the largest museum dedicated to Tasmania's maritime history. In this superb building dating from 1831 and adjoining the Town Hall, you will discover an important collection of photos and paintings relating the maritime history of Hobart, with in particular that of its first European explorers and whaling. Various reproductions (dugout canoes, sailing and steam boats) and an exhibition of instruments necessary for navigation, all usefully documented.
