ROYAL TASMANIAN BOTANICAL GARDENS
These gardens, which are Hobart's green lungs, are home to some unique plant species: Australia's Subantarctic Plant House
With a total of 14 hectares, the Hobart Botanical Gardens are the green lungs of the city, established in the early years of the colony. Here you can admire unique plant species such as the Australian Subantarctic Plant House. The Antipodean Voyage fountain, erected in 1972, commemorates the 200th anniversary of the beginning of French exploration in Tasmanian waters. Also worth seeing: the Subantarctic House, which reproduces the climate and vegetation of Macquarie Island.
