ST DAVID'S PARK
This pretty downtown park, set back from the Tasmanian Supreme Court building, was Hobart's first cemetery.
St David's Park, set back from the Supreme Court of Tasmania building, is bounded by Davey Street, Salamanca Place and Sandy Bay Road. This lovely downtown park was Hobart's first cemetery and the place where the island's first lieutenant governor, David Collins, was buried. Many cenotaphs are scattered across the lawns, but no bodies have been here since the 1920s. In the lower part of the park, there is a small walkway surrounded by memorial walls in honor of the early settlers: the Memorial Walls.
