Medieval enclosures with a small proportion of remains, located in Sélestat

The city walls, built between 1675 and 1691 on the orders of King Louis XIV following the contours of the medieval enclosure, did not survive their dismantling from 1874 (constitution of the Empire) with the exception of the Porte de Strasbourg, a curtain wall and two bastions. The Witches' Tower, built in 1216, was used as a prison for women from 1550. The Tour Neuve, or Clock Tower, with its two pointed arches, bears witness to the second wave of fortifications of the city.

Mais pour permettre l'extension de la ville, l'enceinte a été démantelée en 1874 et il ne reste que deux bastions reliés par une courtine;
