Museum telling the stories of the first European navigators: the sinking of the Batavia, the Dutch ship that ran aground in 1629...
Housed in an 1850 building built with the labor of the colony's convicts to store food, clothing and building materials, the WA Shipwreck Museum, numerous because of its difficult-to-navigate and late-mapped coastline, offers a journey back in time, telling the stories of the first European navigators, including the sinking of the Batavia, a Dutch ship that ran aground in 1629, and the mutiny that followed.
