NGILGI CELLAR
Cave associated with a Wardandi legend that recounts the battle between a good spirit (Ngilgi) and an evil spirit (Wolgine).
Formerly named Yallingup Cave, this cave, identified by European settlers in 1899, is associated with a legend of the Wardandi people which relates the fight between a good spirit (Ngilgi) and an evil spirit (Wolgine). Be careful, the cave has about 350 steps. Caves are very important for the Wardandi: the word Yallingup, which gave its name to the town, means land of caves. They have known them for thousands of years and have left cave paintings in some of them, which are now mostly closed to the public.
