KALBARRI NATIONAL PARK
A national park for hiking and canoeing, home to the Murchison River, natural pools and rare trees.
1,000 km² of bush, with the Murchison River flowing between red rocks, natural pools and rare trees, make the park an ideal place for hiking and canoeing. The park is accessible to all types of vehicle. Several stops are available. The Ross Graham, where you can descend into the gorge on a short trail, the Z Bend, which offers a spectacular view of the gorge, the Loop, with its Nature's Window, and the possibility of hiking from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Depending on the time of year, the landscape can be lush or arid. Don't miss the Skywalk, which opened in 2020!
Kalbarri National Park is best known for its famous Nature's Window, but if you have time, check out the Kalbarri Cliffs along the coast. The sea views here are breathtaking: you'll love Mushroom Gorge, Rainbow Alley, Pot Alley and Eagle Gorge Lookout. Red Bluff, in particular, is one of the best vantage points for watching the migration of over 35,000 humpback whales, which takes place every year between June and November.
A few hikes take you down to the beach, where you can admire the waves crashing against the rocks. The contrast between the blue of the water and the red of the rocks is striking.
If you can, don't hesitate to take to the skies and book a flight over the park, which can also be combined with the magnificent views of the Abrolhos Islands. Kalbarri Air Charter's scenic flights are unforgettable.
