This site, with over a million engravings, is reputed to have one of the largest concentrations of rock art in the world
Not far from Dampier and 35 km from Karratha, Murujuga (also called Burrup Peninsula) is known to have one of the largest concentrations of rock art in the world: there are more than one million engravings, some dating back 40,000 years. A short walk along the Ngajarli trail will allow you to admire them. This visit is also a place to see rare migratory birds. Possibility of a nice swim, with sometimes deserted beaches.
