THE GOLDEN STAIRCASE TO THE MOON
A natural and occasional phenomenon that takes place during the full moon (between March and October) at extremely low tide.
It's a natural phenomenon that takes place on full moon nights (between March and October) at extremely low tide, when the moon is reflected on the long mud flats of Roebuck Bay. A reflection that ancient Japanese pearl fishermen called "the golden staircase" because they saw a staircase rising towards the sky. On the evenings when the magic happens, a market is held at Town Beach, with local musicians. Ask at the Visitor Centre for exact dates and times.
