This park, which shelters a gorge, was once called "Windjana" (the name of spiritual and mythological beings).

30 km from the Dimalurru/Tunnel Creek trail or 20 km from the Gibb River road is the beautiful Bandilngan Gorge, 3 km long and 100 m wide, crossed by the Lennard River with its freshwater crocodiles. It was formerly known as Windjana, which is in fact the name of the spiritual and mythological beings who live there: the colonist who first settled there had not understood well. Beautiful 8 km hike in the gorge, following the tracks of Jandamarra who hid there.
