SPIAGGIA ROSA
This beach of the archipelago of La Maddalena is the most photographed because of its pink sand. And the most protected too.
It is a mythical beach. The most photographed and popular for its pink sand. The colour is due to a micro-organism living in posidonie, a plant of the coastal seabed. In 1999, Spiaggia Rosa became an area protected by the council of La Maddalena Park. Since then, it is forbidden to bathe and boat along its waters in order to safeguard this delicate ecosystem. The director Michelangelo Antonioni fell in love with this beach, and in 1964 he turned the film Deserto Rosso, with Monica Vitti.
